It has been a beautifully normal summer Saturday here in Sarasota. We are counting down the days until we reunite with Banyan and become a complete unit again. Today was marked on the calendar as a home improvement day, and we all worked toward a more organized nest as we approach the schoolyear. I spent nearly the entire day in the boys’ room, cleaning and discarding and making way for what is to come. I unearthed bags of travel games we’d taken to the hospital last year. Gifts from school friends. Get well cards and photographs. It was difficult work but it was cathartic and necessary.
We took a midday break to dunk our sweaty Benjamin and his neighbor buddy into our friend’s pool. It’s 100 degrees outside every day these days. We are so looking forward to Wisconsin.
