Today was filled with wall-to-wall play. We had breakfast, then went to a friend’s house to swim. We came home for lunch, then had more friends over to play. When they left, we headed to Southside for a third gathering. Now, it’s after dinner, and the kids are still playing outside with neighbors, chasing the sun until the last rays are gone.
At each meeting of kids and mamas, we found community, and we found summer. Kids splashed and built Legos and played baseball while mothers talked and worried and comforted. I feel so grateful that I am able to show my children what true community looks like.
This is summer, however condensed, and these are summer’s sons.
Laura it sounds like your past week has been blessed. Thanks so much for the updates. Love you guys.
